Many years ago, Africa was unambiguously associated with Stasiek, Nel, and Kali :). Thanks to the novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz, the African continent appeared to us as extraordinarily colorful, mysterious, fascinating, but also full of contrasts.
Over the years, associations with the Dark Continent have expanded a bit, and besides the protagonists from “In Desert and Wilderness,” we also think of the largest desert in the world – the Sahara, heat, nomadic tribes – the Berbers, diamonds, albinism, the second longest river in the world – the Nile, pyramids, wildlife, and many others.
Africa is the oldest inhabited area in the world. Before it was colonized, it was made up of about 10,000 different states and groups. As of 2019, there are 54 countries on the African continent. The colonizers certainly left quite a bit of devastation behind, didn’t they?
Africa is a tapestry of peoples, languages, and religions. Here you will find subjective posts about our travels to African countries.
